Lesson 12

Informal Writing Assignment #9:

Write a short letter to me discussing your research and revision process. Do you find it valuable? Excruciating? Both?

This week you’ll continue working on your research paper. Last week you put some basic thoughts down to help develop ideas. This week you should see the general shape start to develop and the paragraphs become more clearly defined. You should also begin inserting your citations and developing your Works Cited page.

Check out Discussion #9. Remember to also paste your discussion post into Word and submit to the assignments tab in Canvas.

Final Draft of the Research Paper is due December 9 (please note that this is later than the due date for the rest of Lesson 12).

*     Minimum 1750 words, 1 Works Cited page.
*     Minimum of 6 secondary  sources. This means critical sources which comment upon a piece of literature. So, if you are writing a paper about Shakespeare, Hamlet  or Romeo and Juliet don’t  count for your six. You need six sources talking about the meaning of  Hamlet, not the play itself. Every source listed on your Works Cited page should be cited in the body of your paper.
*     Grammar and punctuation should be highly polished with almost no errors
*     You must have an obvious thesis statement with organized supporting paragraphs that illuminate your thesis
*     Formatting should be flawless
*     Everything which appears in your Works Cited page should be cited in your Research Paper.

Please upload a .doc or .docx file. When I have thirty of these to do, it adds a lot of needless time when I have to go into Google Docs or take the extra steps to open a .pages document.
